Home decorating shows are all over television. If they have provided you with inspiration to redecorate the rooms in your home, read on to find out how to come up with your home decorating plan.
A great place to begin would be to make a home decorating planning notebook. You can simply use any 3 ring binder notebook, add some folders with pockets to hold pictures, have a divider for each room and put a few pieces of notebook paper into each section to make notes of ideas or keep track of what items cost.
Find some magazines that you no longer need and look through them for inspiration. Tear out photos of rooms that you like. You are only looking for ideas at this point so don’t skip over things that you thing you can’t afford.
Be sure to pay attention to individual items in the pictures, too. You may not care for the overall decorating scheme in the photo, but you’re crazy about the designer baby bedding set shown. Cut it out and put it into the pocket for the nursery.
Also pay attention to colors. You may not particularly care for the pieces of furniture in a photo, but you love the wall colors. Tear out the picture or make a note on your paper of the color scheme that you like.
If you have the time, when you are shopping in a store that sells accessories, take a few minutes to look through the home decor accents available and take notes of pieces that you like.
Think about your master bedroom and think about the things you already have on hand. Are you using a bedding collection that you love? If the answer is yes, look for accessories that will coordinate with pieces that you already have.
You can also go online and look for room planners. There are several online planners for rooms in your home where you can experiment with templates to design your room. Some of the planners have to be downloaded to your computer while there are others that you can work without downloading. There are some very simple planners to use for the beginning designer as well as more advanced models for the experienced designer.
Keep a list in your notebook of the cost of items you want to purchase for your home. This will not only help you stay on budget, but you will know a great buy when you see it. You may be able to save money by buying pieces on sale. Your notebook will let you come up with a plan to beautifully decorate your home.
